Our Work
Delivering integrated SRHR solutions across Africa — from education to advocacy.
My SafePad International doesn't just implement projects – we build systems of dignity. Our work spans product supply, community education, youth leadership, research support, and policy advocacy. Every intervention is designed to be sustainable, scalable, and rooted in the lived realities of the communities we serve.
With offices in Rwanda and Liberia, and partnerships across Africa, we are creating a future where no girl misses school because of her period and every young person can access accurate SRHR information.
Our Model: How It Connects
Safe product access + trusted education + youth leadership + local livelihoods + evidence translation + advocacy = a dignity, systems, and opportunity approach to menstrual health and SRHR.
SRHR Education
School‑based programs, peer education, and community workshops on puberty, consent, and family planning.
We reach adolescents where they are – in schools, youth clubs, and community spaces. Our peer‑led curriculum covers anatomy, puberty, consent, contraception, STI prevention, and healthy relationships. Through our collaborations and public awareness efforts, we have cumulatively reached more than 6,000 young people with accurate, stigma‑free SRHR information. In Liberia, with support from the National AIDS Control Program, we delivered HIV education and condoms to 500+ young people.
Menstrual Hygiene Management
Distribution of Safepad™ reusable pads, MHM training, and disposal solutions for schools and workplaces.
We don't just distribute pads – we create complete MHM systems. This includes training girls and teachers on safe use and washing, providing disposal solutions, and establishing MHM clubs that normalise period conversations. Through our partnership with Planned Parenthood Association (Slipway), we've also integrated menstrual health with family planning services, reaching over 2,000 women with free contraceptives alongside MHM support.
Ambassadorial Scheme
Youth ambassadors lead peer‑to‑peer interventions, reducing stigma and increasing product access.
Our youth‑led model is the engine of our work. We recruit, train, and deploy young people (ages 15–24) as SRHR ambassadors. They lead school clubs, distribute products, answer questions confidentially, and refer peers to friendly health services. We are scaling this peer network to build long‑term community ownership.
Production & Employment
Locally-led manufacturing providing fair-wage jobs for youth and women.
We provide locally-led and made high-quality antimicrobial products, with production spanning across Liberia and Rwanda. Our products are not limited to Safepad™ - we offer a range of antimicrobial solutions. We prioritize safe, fair-wage work opportunities, ensuring that local employment benefits the communities we serve.
Research & Data
Supporting evidence‑based studies on menstrual health barriers and SRHR policy.
We are not an independent research house. However, our team members have contributed to research efforts, and we may support partner‑led field learning, community engagement, and evidence translation. We collaborate with universities and health organisations to help turn findings into practical community action.
Policy Advocacy
Advocating for menstrual products to be included in essential health packages.
We work alongside CSOs and MHM institutions to advocate for tax reductions, increased investment in menstrual health, and better facilities in schools. Our campaign 'Unlock Her Cycle, Unlock Her Future' has helped spotlight persistent menstrual health gaps and access barriers, driving policy conversations at national levels. We bring youth advocates to policy tables.
Our Impact in Numbers
Through our direct programs and collaborations (including with the National AIDS Control Program – Liberia, Planned Parenthood Association of Liberia, and others), we have contributed to reaching over 6,000 people with SRHR education, distributed 10,000+ menstrual products, and trained 100+ youth ambassadors.
